SPARK- Student Progress through Arts Resources and Knowledge

What is SPARK?

SPARK is an arts education teacher professional development program (PD) led by Opportunities for All (OFA), a non-profit organization, and numerous partners, including the University of Chicago Logan Center for the Arts, Hyde Park Art Center, and Lookingglass Theatre Company. SPARK is a 4-year project funded by the U.S. Department of Education’s, Assistance for Arts Education Development and Dissemination Grant Program (AAEDD).

What are the goals for SPARK?

The goals of SPARK are to create a system and culture of collaboration among grant partners (school leaders, teachers, art/education partners, teaching artists, and the larger school community). It is also to increase teachers’ knowledge and instruction of professional arts education content and arts integration skills. Furthermore to increase students’ performance in the arts, reading, and mathematics through project professional development (PD), educational activities, and resources. And finally, documenting and sharing the project’s instructional strategies and curriculum.
